Join the Celebration: How the Community Came Together for First Saturday at The MAX!

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience, known as The MAX, had an exciting First Saturday event last weekend. Guests enjoyed free admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving families a chance to dive into Mississippi’s rich artistic culture.

Throughout the day, children participated in creative activities, including painting colorful pictures. This hands-on experience helped them connect with the history of The MAX and celebrated the Hall of Fame inductees.

Heather Lacoste, the Education Director at The MAX, shared her enthusiasm for the event. She loves seeing families, from grandparents to grandkids, working on art projects together. “It’s wonderful to witness these multi-generational moments. Life gets busy, and sitting down to create art is special. I’ve seen kids draw pictures of artists like Natasha Trethewey and then find them in the museum to learn more.”

Overall, the event brought people together to celebrate and learn about Mississippi’s culture in a fun and engaging way.
