St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is ready to host its seventh annual Oktoberfest on September 27, from 1 to 8 p.m. This fun-filled event will take place at 317 E. Liberty St. in Medina, rain or shine, and everyone is invited.
Last year’s Oktoberfest welcomed over 1,000 attendees, even with some bad weather. This time, look forward to the lively sounds of Donau Schwaben Blaskapelle, a talented German orchestra, performing from 1 to 5 p.m. Then, the polka band Down und Kraut will keep the energy going from 6 to 8 p.m.
Families can enjoy a designated Kids Korner featuring inflatables like an obstacle course and rock-climbing wall. For adults, there’s cornhole and Jenga, plus the popular stein-holding contest, where you can test your “brat strength.” Eight local craft vendors will also be on-site. Throughout the day, participants can join a 50/50 raffle and other draws; your ticket includes one free entry into the raffle.
Tickets are reasonably priced—$6 in advance for adults, $5 for ages 11 to 20, and free for kids under ten. On the day of the event, tickets will be $10. You can buy tickets at St. Paul’s website.
Event coordinator Tim Scheel emphasizes the community support that makes this festival possible, expressing gratitude to volunteers, sponsors, and local businesses. Hofbräuhaus Cleveland will provide delicious German food and drinks, including items like pretzels, brats, and different beers. A portion of food sales will go to Hofbräuhaus, while all event proceeds will benefit St. Paul’s and local charities, including the Medina Battered Women’s Shelter and the Next Step-Up Emergency Housing Shelter.
Oktoberfest originated from a royal wedding in Munich, Germany, back in 1810. What started as a local celebration has turned into a global event embraced by many cultures. It’s a great time to come together, eat good food, and enjoy live music while supporting meaningful community causes.
