“Join the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera’s Heartfelt Holiday Food Drive: Help Your Neighbors in Need This Season!”

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera (CSO) is reaching out to the community to support local families during the holiday season. They’re running a food drive from November through December to benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank and AIM Center, helping those who rely on SNAP benefits.

Donations of non-perishable food are needed. The CSO is looking for items like peanut butter, canned vegetables, cereals, soups, and canned proteins. You can drop off your contributions at the CSO office located at 620 Lindsay Street, Suite 210, from Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also donate at various CSO performances during the holiday season.

Some upcoming events include:

  • Decades: Back to the ’80s on November 8
  • The Second Symphonies of Beethoven and Farrenc on November 16
  • Handel’s Messiah on December 5 and 6
  • Chattanooga Youth Symphony Chamber Players on December 15
  • Home for the Holidays on December 20 and 21

Susan Caminez, the executive director of CSO, emphasized the importance of community support. She said, “As a symphony, we belong to the people who live here. This season, coming together means making sure those around us are nourished and cared for.”

If you prefer to help in a different way, you can also donate gift cards online. These can be sent directly to AIM Center members and can be from popular stores like Food City, Walmart, or Publix.

This food drive is a meaningful way to contribute to the community, especially during a time when food insecurity is high. In the U.S., reports show that nearly 10% of households are facing food shortages. By participating in this initiative, you can help make a difference for families in need during the holidays.
