“Join the Coldstream Sisters in Honoring Their Little Brother: Participate in Our Heartfelt Workout Fundraiser!”

Brooke and Blaire Toop are honoring their younger brother, Randall, with the first Randall Toop Memorial Fundraiser on May 31 at CrossFit Vernon. This event is dedicated to supporting men’s mental health.

Randall was known for his infectious smile and jovial spirit. As Brook describes, “He could light up a room.” He was the kind of person who made everyone laugh, but he also faced personal struggles. Despite his outward joy, Randall battled depression, a fight most didn’t see. He was supposed to start nursing school and had recently picked up golf, showing signs of a brighter future. Then, one bad day in August changed everything, and Randall tragically lost his life to mental health challenges.

The fundraiser is set for the day after Randall’s 24th birthday. It’s open to everyone, whether you’re a CrossFitter or just there to support. The Toop family will be grilling up food, adding a warm community vibe to the event.

All funds raised will be donated to HeadsUpGuys, an organization focused on men’s mental health awareness. Brooke, a CrossFit enthusiast, finds strength in this community to cope with her grief. She emphasizes the importance of sharing Randall’s story: “Even those who seem okay might be battling unseen struggles.”

The event features a workout modeled after HYROX competitions. Participants can join as individuals for $40 or in pairs for $50. Heats will begin at 9 a.m. and will include a variety of physical challenges like running, burpee box jumps, sled drags, and more.

Brooke encourages everyone to join in, whether by participating or cheering on the athletes. “Come down, enjoy the barbecue, and be part of this movement,” she says. The sisters plan to make this fundraiser an annual event, committed to spreading awareness about mental health.

Raising awareness for men facing similar struggles is vital. A recent study by the American Psychological Association shows that men are often reluctant to seek help due to stigma. Events like this can change that narrative, creating safe spaces for conversations. Brooke and Blaire are determined to keep Randall’s memory alive while promoting mental health support. “No family should have to experience this,” Brooke says, affirming their mission to keep the dialogue open.
