Get ready for creativity to shine at the fifth annual Makerthon at the Innevation Center of the University of Nevada, Reno! Sponsored by Click Bond, Inc., this exciting event will take place from April 25 to 27, 2025.
This year, students from the University, local high schools, and colleges will team up to tackle a real-world challenge. They’ll have 48 hours to brainstorm, design, test, and create prototypes using the Makerspace’s wide range of tools and technology. At the end, they will present their innovations to a panel of judges. The winning team will receive a $2,000 prize and a chance to join a prototype-to-product accelerator, helping them turn their ideas into marketable products.
Click Bond, Inc., a company that has been around since 1987, is the title sponsor. Based in Carson City, Nevada, they specialize in making adhesive-bonded fasteners used in various fields, including aerospace, automotive, and space exploration. With over 5,000 products, their technology plays a vital role in many industries worldwide.
Daniel Smith, the Makerspace manager, said, “Students come from diverse majors and backgrounds. Each year, their creativity and problem-solving abilities amaze us. Seeing them tackle real-world issues is truly inspiring.”
A new feature this year is a tour of the Click Bond facility on March 24. During this two-hour event, students will see demonstrations of adhesive-bonding technology and an automated bonding process. They’ll also explore some innovative projects that use extended reality (XR).
