Join the Excitement: Auburn University’s 2025 Homecoming Parade Celebration!

On September 12, Auburn University celebrated its annual homecoming parade. Starting at 6 p.m., the event wound through downtown, showcasing local businesses, student groups, and community members.

Leading the festivities was Grand Marshal Octavia Spencer, an Academy Award-winning actress and proud alumnus. Following her were the Auburn cheerleaders, the Tiger Paws, and the marching band. The Miss Homecoming 2025 candidates paraded in their own vehicles, adding to the excitement.

Morgan McKenzie, a junior studying musical theater, eagerly anticipated the AU Players’ float. “It sounds amazing! I know they’ve put in a lot of effort,” she said, recalling how they rallied volunteers to bring their vision to life.

For many, the parade evoked memories. McKenzie shared, “I first came to the parade as a Girl Scout. This is my first one as a student, and it feels special.”

Local businesses like Lily Jane Boutique and Auburn Downtown Limo joined in, along with campus organizations such as the Beat Bama Food Drive and Pride on the Plains.

Ryan Hill, a graduate of the College of Engineering, described his experience in the parade. “Being part of it was a huge honor. I finally saw how many people really support Auburn,” he explained. “The energy was fantastic!”

Freshman Tate Anderson reflected on watching friends perform. “I have friends in the band, so it was fun to cheer them on. I can’t wait for the game tomorrow, even if it’s hot!”

The parade concluded with Aubie the Tiger and the Auburn Fire Department waving from a fire truck. It ended at Samford Hall, where a pep rally led by the cheerleaders and marching band got everyone pumped. Grand Marshal Spencer even led the crowd in cheers, amplifying the spirit of camaraderie.

Next, the Miss Homecoming candidates were introduced by SGA President Owen Beaverstock. The audience joined in chants like “Bodda Getta” and “Track ’em Tigers.”

The homecoming celebrations continued the next day with a football game against the South Alabama Jaguars, marking the first matchup between the two teams. The winner of Miss Homecoming 2025 would also be crowned during halftime.

This year’s festivities reflect a broader trend among universities to strengthen community ties. According to a recent survey, 65% of students feel closer to their school through alumni events and homecomings.
