Join the Excitement: Cleary University Launches New Competitive Dance Team Recruitment!

Cleary University is diving into the world of competitive dance with a new athletics program. Starting in the fall of 2026, the university is actively looking for talented dancers to join this exciting co-ed team.

Max Ballinger, the Director of Athletics, shared his enthusiasm: “This addition celebrates creativity, athleticism, and school spirit. We’re thrilled to introduce competitive dance as it brings fresh energy to our campus.” He highlighted that this team will not only compete in the NAIA but also cheer on other sports teams, fostering a sense of community and excitement among students.

The competitive dance team will feature various styles, including jazz, pom, and hip hop. To lead the team, Cleary has appointed Beth Strom as the head coach. With a decade of experience as the former head dance coach at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion. Under her guidance, her previous team achieved great success, finishing 8th at the 2025 NAIA National Championship and consistently ranking in the top 10 nationally.

Strom has received numerous accolades, including being named the 2025 NAIA Coach of the Year. Her background in dance spans many years, starting at a young age. She holds degrees in communication and business, as well as a master’s in college student affairs leadership. Besides coaching, she has taught classes and worked as an adjunct professor, showcasing her deep commitment to student development.

Speaking about her new role, Strom expressed her excitement: “I can’t wait to enhance school spirit and build a competitive team at Cleary. Engaging with students and helping them grow is my passion.” Recruitment is already underway for the 2026/27 year, with the competitive season kicking off in January 2027.
