Austin Peay State University’s cross country teams are gearing up for their final regular season meet at the Angel Mounds Invitational in Evansville, Indiana. The men’s race kicks off at 8 a.m. (CT) with an 8K, followed by the women’s 6K at 8:50 a.m.
Recently, the women’s team made waves by winning the Louisville Classic. Sydney Freeman and Shaye Foster both landed in the Top 5. Laure Marie Kidukula, Taylah Upshaw, and Jaedyn Stalnecker also showed impressive performances, finishing under 20:30 minutes and securing Top 25 spots. This was the second meet won under head coach Asha Gibson-Smith.
On the men’s side, Tahmar Upshaw led the team with a 12th-place finish at the last meet. Zeniel Lizardo and Jacob Schweigardt also made it into the Top 30, helping the team secure fourth place among 25 competitors.
This weekend, the Governors will compete alongside 21 other teams, including Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, and Western Kentucky. Last year, the men’s team finished 14th, while the women placed 10th.
Looking ahead, the Governors are set to head to Jacksonville, Florida for the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Cross Country Championships.
