More than 75 people, including members of the Indian diaspora and Slovak nationals, took part in the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 in Bratislava on Sunday. Participants ran along the streets holding Indian flags and wearing T-shirts that proudly displayed the event’s name.
The Indian Embassy in Slovakia shared images of the lively event on social media, stating, “Over 75 participants, including the Indian community, Slovak friends, and others, joined for health, solidarity, and the shared vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
This run is part of a larger initiative organized by India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs. The Viksit Bharat Run is happening in over 150 locations across 91 countries between September 17 and October 2, as part of Seva Pakhwada, a celebration of service.
In its announcement, the Ministry described this global initiative as a first-of-its-kind effort to inspire collective action in nation-building. The run aims to unite Indians abroad with local communities, students, and professionals to reaffirm their commitment to achieving a developed India by 2047.
With the tagline “Run to Serve the Nation,” the run spans 3–5 km in accessible and noteworthy locations. Participants will pass by iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Mexico City’s Angel of Independence.
The Ministry emphasized that the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 could become one of India’s largest outreach initiatives. It’s more than just a fitness event; it’s a celebration of values such as service, sustainability, and inclusivity. The goal is to deepen ties between India and its diaspora, inspire youth to engage in service-oriented projects, and showcase India’s progress on a global stage.
