Join the Excitement: Men’s Golf at Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Classic – UNC Athletics

The UNC Tar Heels golf team is gearing up for their next challenge on October 6-7. They’ll be participating in the Fighting Irish Classic at Notre Dame’s Warren Golf Course.

Recently, the Tar Heels shared the team title at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational on September 30, held at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. This was quite a feat, as they were up against 13 top-ranked teams. UNC tied with Texas, Vanderbilt, and Virginia, all of whom are in the top 10 nationally.

Four golfers are returning from the Hogan Invitational for the Notre Dame tournament. Andrew Riley and Keaton Vo stood out with impressive finishes, both placing 13th. Carson Bertagnole showed his skill with a standout score of 69 in the final round. Sihan Sandhu also returns, along with sophomore Grant Roscich.

Meanwhile, Niall Sheils Donegan, who tied for 17th at the Hogan tournament, is representing Scotland at the World Amateur Team Championship in Singapore this week.

Thanks to their strong performance at the Hogan Invitational, the Tar Heels debuted in a tie for seventh place in the College Media Poll, which is a new ranking system for college golf. Oklahoma State, the top-ranked team, is also competing in the Fighting Irish Classic, and UNC will join them and UCLA for the first rounds.

The field this year includes teams like Georgia Southern, Indiana, Iowa, and Louisville. Each team will be eager to prove themselves in this competitive tournament.

As college golf evolves, interest in events like these has grown. Recent surveys show that fan engagement is rising, especially on social media, where tournament highlights and player achievements are frequently shared.
