New York City FC is excited to announce that applications are now open for its upcoming Five Borough Food Hall at Paze City Square, located beside Etihad Park, currently under construction at Willets Point. The food hall aims to showcase ten small businesses, providing a platform for local flavors when the stadium opens in 2027.
Applications will be accepted until July 1, inviting independent restaurants and innovative food concepts from across the five boroughs to participate. Interested businesses can apply here.
NYCFC CEO Brad Sims emphasized the significance of the food hall, stating it will provide “a truly New York experience.” He noted that New York is a culinary powerhouse, and the food options at Etihad Park will reflect this vibrant culture.
Paze City Square will be strategically located near Etihad Park’s Cube entrance, serving as a gathering spot for fans on matchdays and accessible to the public on non-event days.
A selection committee, including renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson, will curate the vendors. This team is looking for “authentic voices” that represent the diverse gastronomy of the city. Tom Funk, President of Legends Global, which will manage the food hall, noted the goal is to create a remarkable experience for everyone who visits.
Etihad Park, set to be the first soccer-specific stadium in New York City, will hold around 25,000 fans. It’s also designed to be a community hub, featuring a housing complex, an elementary school, a hotel, and retail spaces, making it a key part of the neighborhood.
The stadium will not only serve soccer fans but is also expected to host nine Olympic games in 2028. This expansion is part of a larger trend in urban development, where sports venues aim to create multifaceted community spaces that enrich local culture.
