Join the Excitement: Oakland University Women’s Golf Competes in the First-Ever ‘More Than Golf’ Invitational!

Rochester, Mich. – Women’s golf is set to shine at the first-ever “More Than Golf” Invitational, backed by Bank of America. This unique tournament is for Mid-Major college programs across the United States and is supported by the ANNIKA Foundation, with help from Augusta University and Columbia University.

Located at Old Barnwell in Aiken, South Carolina, the tournament will host twelve teams, including prestigious schools like Dartmouth College and the University of Delaware. The course, a par 73 spanning 6,425 yards, will kick off its rounds each day at 8:30 am.

This tournament aims to offer more than just golf. It provides a platform for networking and personal growth. Before the tournament, participants will engage in a College-Am event designed to foster relationships. An Executive Women’s reception will follow, giving players a chance to connect with accomplished women from various fields.

The individual medalist at this event will earn up to three complimentary rounds on the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour during the summer.

For the Golden Grizzlies, players like Grace Boczar, Lily Bargamian, and Savannah Haque are ready to showcase their skills. Nateda Her, competing individually, hopes to make a mark against a tough field.

This event not only emphasizes the players’ prowess on the course but also highlights the importance of building connections that can help them in their careers. Live scoring will be accessible, allowing fans to follow the action in real-time.

Interestingly, surveys have shown that women in sports often face unique challenges, from securing sponsorships to gaining equal media coverage. Tournaments like this one aim to level the playing field, highlighting women’s achievements and creating opportunities for future generations.
