The University of West Florida (UWF) is gearing up for its seventh annual Day of Giving on April 17. This is a great opportunity for alumni, students, parents, and friends of UWF to come together and support the university in a big way through a 24-hour online fundraising event.

This year, UWF is aiming to raise $175,000 and hopes to reach 1,200 individual donations. These efforts are part of the larger “Here for Good” campaign, which targets over $90 million in total contributions. You can make a donation at UWF Day of Giving. Your contributions can support various areas such as Argo Athletics, the College of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, and scholarships, among others.
There are fun incentives for donating! For instance, give $20, and you’ll receive a UWF bandana. A $30 donation gets you exclusive UWF socks, while $50 earns you a special UWF hat. If you donate $100, you can grab all three unique items, which feature a limited-edition print specific to this event.
To celebrate, there will also be a happy hour event for alumni and friends at O’Riley’s Irish Pub in downtown Pensacola from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests over 21 will get a free drink ticket and can enjoy appetizers while supplies last. You can register for this event at the Day of Giving Happy Hour webpage.
You’re encouraged to spread the word and use the hashtag #UWFDayofGiving on social media to raise awareness. This initiative aligns with UWF Founders Week, a time to celebrate the university’s history and achievements. To learn more about the weeklong celebration, check out Founders Week.
Interestingly, studies show that giving back can positively impact both the donor and recipient. A report from the National Philanthropic Trust notes that charitable giving in the United States reached $471 billion in 2020.
Participating in these events not only uplifts the university but also enriches our community. When we support education, we invest in a brighter future for everyone.
