The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team is gearing up for the Nanea Invitational from October 27 to 29 at the exclusive Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i. This year’s tournament is shaping up to be one of the most competitive yet, featuring four teams ranked in the Top 10, including the top-ranked Stanford.
The participating teams include:
- No. 1 Stanford
- No. 6 Auburn
- No. 8 Arizona State
- No. 10 Texas
In total, ten of the eleven teams are in the Top 100, with seven ranked in the Top 50.
Previously known as the Pac-12 Preview, this tournament has seen changes over the years. While it once only included Pac-12 teams and UH, it now features a mix of schools while returning to its traditional fall schedule after a spring hiatus.
Players will contest 54 holes over three days—18 holes each day—on a challenging 6,449-yard course designed by David McLay Kidd.
The Rainbow Wahine have participated every year since the tournament’s inception in 2013. This year, the lineup includes Jasmine Wong, Maline Kraus, Chloe Ku, Emiko Sverduk, and Sofina Firouzi. Notably, Sverduk is competing for the fourth time and hopes to improve on her previous best finish of tied for 40th. Kraus finished just ahead last year, tying for 39th.
This tournament follows the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, where the team finished 14th. Wong stood out as the top finisher for UH, ending in 18th place with a score of 218.
With such strong competition this year, the excitement is high for both the teams and their supporters.
