Join the Excitement: Women’s Golf Team Competes at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Missouri!

COLUMBIA, Mo. (September 21, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women’s golf team is set to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational on September 22-23. This tournament marks their second event of the fall season and their first in Missouri. Earlier, the team kicked off the season in Kansas.

Team Update:

The Lions bring four golfers from their opening tournament to Missouri. True freshman Kiersten Riggins, a standout from Hewitt-Trussville High School, will make her college debut. Redshirt junior Kerigan Klauber is leading the team for the first time, followed by freshman Lisa Palmgren in her second tournament. Sophomore Sirichaya Chanpen and junior Ava Schwartz round out the lineup.

Field Overview:

A total of 14 schools will compete in this tournament. Along with UNA, the SEC will be represented by Missouri and Kentucky. UAB joins UNA as the other Alabama school participating. Other notable schools include Cincinnati, Missouri State, and Oklahoma.

Schedule:

The team arrives in Columbia on Saturday. They’ll practice on Sunday afternoon at 1:40 p.m. The tournament begins Monday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start, featuring 36 holes on the first day and 18 on the second.

Course Details:

The Club at Old Hawthorne spans 7,221 yards and has a par of 72. The course has evolved since its partnership with Mizzou in 2006 and previously hosted the 2014 NCAA Columbia Regional.

Last Performance:

The Lions previously competed at the Jayhawk Invitational in Kansas, finishing sixth out of ten teams. Ava Schwartz led UNA with a 25th place finish and a low round of 74.

Growing Experience:

This tournament will be the 12th state the UNA women’s golf team has played in since the program’s inception in 2018. They’ve visited a range of states from Alabama to Kansas, showcasing their growth and ambition in women’s golf.
