KEARNEY, Neb. – The World Theatre had its annual “Big Game Watch Party” this Sunday, and it was a hit!

Since its opening in 1927, the World Theatre has become a beloved landmark in Kearney. After a makeover in 2012, it has become the go-to spot for watching the Super Bowl.

Mark Treadway, the theatre’s executive director, shared that the event is free for everyone. “We offer it up for anyone who wants to come and have fun,” he said. “With our big screen and some snacks, it’s a great time to gather and cheer for your favorite team.”

Local residents like Jim and Connie Jelkin attend the party to enjoy the game with friends and neighbors. “Not everyone here is a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but that doesn’t stop us from coming together,” they said. “It’s wonderful to experience the excitement and the atmosphere with others.”

Nini Rosenberg, another attendee, echoed similar sentiments. Although she doesn’t cheer for the Chiefs, she loves being part of the community event. “It’s not just about the game. It’s about the World Theatre bringing people together. This place is a real gem in our community,” she remarked.
