In Colorado, one in nine people struggles with hunger. Among them, one in seven is a child. That’s a staggering number and a reason why Feed Colorado is back in action. Starting March 1, the drive aims to collect 65 tons of food to help those in need across the state.
This important campaign is led by Arc Thrift Stores and Denver7. Their mission is to make sure seniors, veterans, and families can get the food they require. All the food collected supports the Volunteers of America Colorado’s Hunger Services Programs, including City Harvest Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.
We need your help! Nonperishable food items are especially needed. Good examples include:
- Canned soups
- Vegetables
- Beans
- Fruits
- Rice
- Pasta
- Cereal
Donating is simple:
- Drop off food at any of the 36 Arc Thrift Stores or 15 Donation Stations across Colorado.
- Call 303-238-5263 to schedule a pickup for food and large furniture donations.
- Make a financial donation online.
- BOK Financial bank branches are also accepting monetary contributions and food donations.
“Food insecurity is a crisis we must tackle,” says Lloyd Lewis, president and CEO of Arc Thrift Stores. “Every can and every dollar helps”. Brian Joyce, from Denver7, adds that “No one should worry about their next meal. The Feed Colorado food drive is a chance for all of us to contribute.”
Dave Schunk, president of Volunteers of America Colorado, emphasizes that “Hunger steals hope,” noting the tough choices people face. “With Feed Colorado, we’re not just gathering food; we’re restoring dignity and hope.”
