Join the Fight Against Hunger: Exciting Events for Hunger Action Month at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan

FLINT, Mich. — September is Hunger Action Month, a time when communities come together to address food insecurity. The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is celebrating with events and fundraisers aimed at making a difference.

This year, the Food Bank has partnered with HAP CareSource, which has generously contributed a $5,000 matching gift. This means every dollar donated can make double the impact.

To raise awareness about hunger, the Flint Weather Ball will glow orange on three special evenings: September 4 for National Food Bank Day, September 8 for National Hunger Day, and September 17 for the Empty Bowls event.

Here’s a look at some key events happening this month:

Empty Bowls – Sept. 18, 2025
This event offers a poignant reminder of those facing hunger. Guests will enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread, while choosing a handcrafted bowl made by local artists as a keepsake. The bowls serve as a symbol of the ongoing fight against hunger, and all proceeds will help the Food Bank support those in need. Tickets can be found here.

Celebrity Game Show Experience Live – Sept. 12, 2025
Join local celebrities in a fun mashup of games like Pictionary and Guess Who, all for a good cause. This lively event will be held at The Foundry in Port Huron. Enjoy an evening of laughter and community spirit. Tickets are available here.

The Genesee County Bar Association’s 2025 Barrister’s Ball – Sept. 20, 2025
This year’s ball has a charming Parisian theme. Tickets are priced at $100, and a third of the proceeds will benefit the Food Bank. For tickets, mail a check to 315 E. Court St., Flint, MI 48502, or call (810) 232-6000.
