Join the Fight Against Hunger: Montgomery County Food Bank’s Shootout Hunger Sporting Clays Tournament Provides Over 670,000 Meals for Local Families

On September 12, 2025, the Montgomery County Food Bank held its 13th annual Shootout Hunger Sporting Clays Tournament at Blackwood Sporting Co. in Conroe. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and participants, the event raised funds that will provide over 670,000 meals for children, families, seniors, and veterans battling hunger in Montgomery County.

For every dollar raised, Montgomery County Food Bank can provide up to four meals. This impressive multiplier effect highlights the importance of community support in tackling local food insecurity.

Over 180 participants took part in the event. Key sponsors like Cowboy Kia, H-E-B, and Expand Energy played vital roles, helping the Food Bank to address the growing need for food assistance. Kristine Marlow, the Food Bank’s President and CEO, expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, “The Shootout Hunger event showcases our community’s heart. It’s about coming together for a shared cause—compassion and hope.”

The day was not just about competition; it fostered camaraderie among attendees. Participants enjoyed a friendly clay-shooting contest, silent auction items, delicious meals, and even complimentary gun cleaning services. Montgomery County’s Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker’s team prepared a BBQ lunch, adding a local flavor to the festivities.
