PELHAM, NH – Nourish New England, a nonprofit based in New Hampshire, recently wrapped up the first annual New Hampshire World Christmas Market (NHWCM). This event raised funds to combat food insecurity throughout the state.
Held on December 13 and 14 at the Anheuser Busch Merrimack Biergarten, the market featured over 80 vendors, including food trucks and locally crafted goods. The community’s support led to significant donations for local charities.
Phil Meyer, CEO of Nourish New England, expressed gratitude for the community’s involvement. “Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised over $13,000, plus around $2,500 worth of food and essentials,” he said.
The funds went to several organizations, including $5,000 to Feed the Kids in Nashua and donations to various food pantries. Meyer highlighted that over 50 families and 21 veterans received assistance shortly after the event, which was crucial during a colder winter.
The NHWCM drew inspiration from traditional European Christmas markets, featuring a festive walkway with a mix of food and craft vendors, many of whom sold out of their items.
In addition to delicious food, the market offered free entertainment, including live music and holiday activities like photos with Santa. Meyer noted that the event surpassed their hopes, especially since it marked Nourish New England’s first major fundraiser after just one year of operation.
Looking ahead, Nourish New England plans to support local events in 2025. They’ve already been involved with Sandown Oktoberfest and other community festivals. “We’re food lovers committed to strengthening our local food scene while helping those in need,” said Meyer.
As the organization prepares for the next NHWCM, they’re eager to grow their outreach and partnerships. For more details on the market and volunteer opportunities, visit NHWorldChristmasMarket.com.
