Join the Food Share Campaign This March: Support the Bemidji Community Food Shelf and Make a Difference!

BEMIDJI — All month long, donations are being accepted for the March Food Share event. This initiative supports the Bemidji Community Food Shelf.

Sponsored by the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, this annual event aims to raise money for nearly 300 food shelves across Minnesota. Every dollar donated in March is partially matched, giving your contributions even more impact.

The campaign ends on April 6, and it’s vital for the Bemidji Community Food Shelf, as Executive Director Michael Olson points out. “Donations in March help us through the summer and fall, which are typically slow months for donations,” he shared. “With more people needing food support, this campaign is crucial.”

During March, the food shelf is accepting both non-perishable food items and cash donations. The matching funds mean that each contribution goes further.

Last year, the Bemidji Community Food Shelf provided assistance to 42,000 individuals from over 13,500 families. The demand for help continues to rise.

Here’s how you can make a difference during March Food Share Month:

  • Donate non-perishable food items at the Bemidji Community Food Shelf, located at 1260 Exchange Ave SE.
  • Make a monetary donation online at bcfsmn.org or send a check to the address above.
  • Volunteer your time to help sort and distribute food.

The Minnesota FoodShare initiative started in 1982 to support food shelves in the Twin Cities area. Thanks to its success, it expanded statewide a year later and is now in its 44th year.

The Bemidji Community Food Shelf strives to provide fresh, healthy food for those in need in Beltrami County and the Bemidji School District. They appreciate the ongoing support from the community and partners that makes this work possible.

The food shelf is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
