Join the Fun: Ovid Strawberry Festival Returns June 14 for Food, Festivities, and Community Spirit!

The Ovid Strawberry Festival is a beloved local event, returning for its 39th year on Saturday, June 14. This annual celebration in southern Seneca County is all about community, food, and fun, while supporting the Ovid Fire Department.

The festivities kick off early with a Pancake Breakfast at the Ovid Federated Church from 7 to 10 a.m. Enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage, and fresh strawberries. If you’re feeling active, join the 5K run and walk starting at 8 a.m., with same-day registration available.

At 10 a.m., the parade, featuring over 40 community groups and classic vehicles, starts at South Seneca High School. It’ll make its way down Main Street toward the fire department, showcasing local pride.

Throughout the day, the Village Park and firehouse will come alive with craft vendors, food trucks, and activities. Kids can enjoy an inflatable obstacle course, games led by local Girl Scouts, and even a silly string war—planned for 1 p.m. Food options include favorites like Silo Truck Fries, Between the Lakes BBQ, and Cayuga Lake Creamery, with chicken BBQ served starting at 11 a.m.

Live entertainment will fill the Village Pavilion, featuring South Seneca music groups at 11 a.m. followed by a community talent showcase. And don’t miss the Strawberry Bake-Off at 1:30 p.m., where participants present their best jams, jellies, and desserts.

The day wraps up with a fundraiser at VFW Post 6200 from 3 to 10 p.m. Enjoy live music, food trucks, a cornhole tournament, and more. Proceeds support the fire department and Second Assistant Chief Brian Reynolds, who is currently battling cancer.

Festivals like this strengthen community bonds and foster local pride. They are an opportunity for neighbors to connect, enjoy good food, and support a worthy cause. Whether you’re a local or visiting, the Ovid Strawberry Festival promises a day full of joyful memories.
