In his talk, “Climate Change Is Not Sci-Fi,” he dispelled the myth that wetlands and mangroves are mere wastelands. These areas are critical for preventing floods, storing carbon, and supporting diverse wildlife. They should be viewed as vital public assets.
Kumar highlighted the need for community involvement and transparency in environmental governance. He also called for environmental education from kindergarten through higher education. This awareness is vital for fostering future generations who are mindful of their ecological impact.
To support this education, he proposed creating a specialized green police force. This would help combat environmental violations, especially given that India faces over 600,000 pending legal cases related to these issues.
