The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is making a difference this holiday season with its Thanksgiving food drive. This effort aims to help families in the Triad area.
From now until November 19, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office Re-entry Program is accepting non-perishable food donations. Local residents can drop off items during the week at several locations. Here’s where you can donate:
- Guilford County Sheriff’s Office: 400 W. Washington St., Greensboro
- Greensboro Detention Center: 201 S. Edgeworth St., Greensboro
- High Point Detention Center: 507 E. Green Dr., High Point
- District 1: 7504 Summerfield Rd., Summerfield
- District 2: 5440 Millstream Rd., McLeansville
- District 3: 211 Hillstone Dr., Jamestown
All donations will go towards a community food giveaway on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. until supplies last. This event will support families in need by providing food boxes.
There will be two distribution locations:
- Greensboro: Otto Zenke Building (400 W. Washington St.) – Here, you can walk up to receive food boxes and connect with local organizations.
- High Point: Public Health Department Parking Lot (211 S. Centennial St.) – This site offers a drive-through option for quick pickup.
Programs like this are crucial, especially as food insecurity rises. According to recent data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, over 10% of American households are facing food insecurity. Initiatives like the Guilford County food drive help bridge that gap.
Community involvement is vital. When residents donate, it not only fills shelves but also fosters a spirit of togetherness. As the holidays approach, the warmth of giving becomes even more important, proving that small acts can lead to significant change.
