Join the Inaugural PEPP Mental Health Social: A Must-Attend Event for Family Childcare Providers!

Family childcare providers in Mower County are coming together for the first-ever PEPP (Providers Empowering Providers and Parents) Mental Health Social this Wednesday. This event is all about supporting the mental wellbeing of those who care for our youngest children.

Thanks to a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, this gathering offers providers a rare opportunity to connect, unwind, and recharge. These caregivers often pour so much energy into their work, leaving little time to focus on their own mental health. This event aims to change that.

“We want our providers to feel appreciated and supported—not just at work, but in their personal lives,” said MaKayla Oxley, an organizer with Austin Aspires.

The evening will take place at Super Fresh Garden Center, providing a peaceful backdrop for relaxation. Attendees can enjoy tea and fresh baked treats, participate in mindfulness activities, and even pot plants while engaging in meaningful conversations. This chance for adult interaction is a rarity in their daily routines.

Did you know that a study by the National Center for Children’s Care found that stress levels among childcare providers can impact the quality of care they give? This social not only supports providers but also enhances the overall environment for children. By prioritizing their mental health, caregivers can better nurture the little ones in their care.

The PEPP Mental Health Social runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., creating a space where providers can feel valued and connected.
