MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Mississippi Science Teaching Association is gearing up for its annual Science Educator Conference from October 19th to 22nd at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian.
This year, the Queen City is excited to welcome science teachers from across the state. Carl Dewitt, a Science Instructor at Northeast Mississippi Community College and the association’s president, emphasizes the importance of teaching students to think critically and creatively.
Dewitt believes that science education helps nurture innovative thinkers and problem solvers. “Science teaches us how to explore new ideas and tackle challenges,” he says. “It’s essential for teachers to connect, share ideas, and pick up new strategies that make learning engaging for their students.” This conference aims to foster collaboration and professional growth among educators.
