On March 10, 2025, the GRIHA Council teamed up with the Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) to host the 5th GRIHA Regional Conclave in Guwahati. The theme was “Accelerating Climate Action in the Built Environment.”
The event featured Keshab Mahanta, Assam’s Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Science and Technology. He spoke about the success of “Advantage Assam 2.0—Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025,” which brought together investors from India and beyond. This summit highlighted Assam’s potential in areas like clean energy and green technology.
The conclave included technical sessions where experts discussed how policies can support sustainable development. They emphasized the importance of building infrastructure that can withstand disasters and using smart, eco-friendly strategies.
Dr. Jaideep Baruah from ASTEC highlighted Assam’s dedication to sustainable development. He stated that the state’s collaboration with global investors marks a commitment to balancing growth and environmental care. Such partnerships are vital for creating a sustainable future.
Sanjay Seth from the GRIHA Council echoed these sentiments, stressing that to achieve a sustainable, low-carbon future by 2047, infrastructure must prioritize eco-friendly practices. As climate issues become more urgent, adopting sustainable building methods can help reduce carbon emissions and prepare for future climate challenges. The GRIHA Regional Conclave serves as an important space to share ideas and encourage the use of green technologies in construction.
