KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian High Commission, along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, recently organized the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. This event highlights India’s progress and aims to connect the Indian diaspora globally.
Union Minister Jitin Prasada kicked off the run, emphasizing the ambition of young Indians to elevate their nation to “developed” status by 2047, driven by Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Prabhakaran Parameswaran from Batu and Yuneswaran Ramaraj, MP of Segamat, joined him and High Commissioner B.N. Reddy for the event at the Kepong Metropolitan Park. They even planted saplings to support PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ initiative.
The turnout was impressive, with over 500 participants from the Indian community in Malaysia. This enthusiasm reflects Malaysia’s unique position as home to the third-largest Indian diaspora globally and a popular destination for Indian tourists. High Commissioner Reddy stated that this selection honors the strong ties between India and Malaysia.
The run also celebrated a year since the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership launched during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to India in August. It highlights Malaysia’s role as Chair of ASEAN this year and India’s long-standing collaboration with the group.
Participants expressed pride in their nation’s growth. Abhishek Srivastava from Honeywell stated that the run connects them to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India.
Under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation,” the event coincided with the Seva Pakhwada campaign, showcasing India’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, technology, and sustainability. It also highlighted the ideals of Seva Bhav (selfless service) and the Swadeshi ethos, promoting self-reliance and environmental responsibility.
Overall, the Viksit Bharat Run not only celebrated Indian progress but also reinforced community ties and shared aspirations.
