On Friday, the Kar Sewa sect in Khadoor Sahib celebrated a special event marking 25 years of their planting initiative at the Nishan-e-Sikhi, Khadoor Charitable Trust Complex. Baba Sewa Singh, the head of the sect, led the festivities. The event featured Justice Adarsh Kumar Goyal, a former Supreme Court judge and past Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal, as the chief guest. Justice Akshay Kumar Rath and Justice Jasbir Singh, both noted former judges, also attended as special guests.
During the function, several speakers highlighted the importance of keeping our environment clean and pollution-free. Nirmaljit Singh Randhawa, Chief Forester for Punjab, Dr. Jasdev Singh Roy from SHRG, London, and Albert Barseghian shared their insights on environmental issues. Together, they planted saplings at the Bhai Bala Ji Hostel, promoting a greener future.
Environmentalist Jagroop Singh spoke about the conservation efforts being made by the Kar Sewa Sect, with active support from the community. Albert Barseghian discussed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how they align with Sikh values. Justice Akshay Kumar Rath explained pollution’s causes and solutions, drawing on Sanskrit shlokas to illustrate the close bond between humanity and nature. Lastly, Justice Jasbir Singh urged everyone to embrace simple living and take personal responsibility to address climate change immediately.
