Join the Movement: Sridhar Vembu Calls on Indian Professionals in the U.S. to Return and Support Bharat Mata

Sridhar Vembu, the founder of Zoho Corporation, recently made a heartfelt appeal to Indians living in the U.S., encouraging them to return to India. He believes that India’s global reputation relies heavily on its technological talent. Vembu pointed out the changing attitudes of many Americans, who now perceive Indian professionals as a threat to their jobs.

Vembu shared his own journey, coming to the U.S. 37 years ago with little money but a solid education. He noted that while many immigrants have benefited from opportunities in America, the narrative has shifted. Today, a significant number of Americans feel that Indians are taking jobs away from them, and that this success comes unfairly.

He expressed concern that many Indians may assume these negative perceptions would fade with changing political climates. However, he argued that the long-standing divide in U.S. politics—between the hard right and the woke left—has created a hostile environment for Indian immigrants, often viewing them through a lens of suspicion and disdain.

Vembu emphasized that the respect Indians earn abroad is intrinsically linked to India’s progress. The political left and right in the U.S. may offer differing critiques of India, but both ultimately reflect a lack of respect if India remains stagnant. He firmly stated that today’s world values technological advancement, which India has the potential to achieve, given its vast pool of talent.

He concluded with a rallying call: he urged his fellow Indians in the U.S. to consider returning home and contributing to India’s growth. The younger generation in India needs their expertise to forge a prosperous future.

This appeal reflects a broader trend where successful professionals, especially in tech, are increasingly being encouraged to bring back their skills to foster growth in their home countries. In recent years, countries like India have seen initiatives to attract talent back from abroad, as they realize the importance of homegrown expertise in driving economic growth.

In his call, Vembu echoed sentiments shared by many experts in the tech industry, emphasizing that a country’s strength is built on its domestic talent. As India continues on its development path, the return of skilled professionals could play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.
