Join the Movement: Support Indian Goods Starting August 10 – A Nationwide Campaign!

Jamshedpur is buzzing with excitement as the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) rallies behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to support Indian products. They’ve launched a campaign titled “Indian Goods – Our Self-Respect,” set to kick off on August 10. This initiative aims to boost local goods and the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, or self-reliant India.

At a recent conference in New Delhi attended by over 150 trade leaders from 26 states, traders unanimously agreed to turn this campaign into a movement. “The Prime Minister’s appeal represents our identity as a nation. By choosing Indian products, we not only enhance our businesses but also contribute to the economy and job growth,” said Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT National General Secretary.

B.C. Bhartia, CAIT National President, explained that the campaign will unfold across every state and district. It includes meetings with traders, outreach to consumers, and involvement from civil society. A mix of social media, posters, rallies, and direct interactions will drive awareness. Schools, colleges, and NGOs will play a role in spreading the message of supporting indigenous goods.

The campaign comes at a time when small traders are struggling against foreign companies’ aggressive market strategies. Brijmohan Agarwal, CAIT Chairman, emphasized the quality of Indian products, noting they are both competitive in quality and price. He pointed out that opting for Indian goods supports local artisans and helps reduce the country’s trade deficit. “Promoting these goods not only benefits our economy but also upholds our culture and traditional crafts,” he added.

In Jharkhand, local CAIT leaders are eager to jump in. They’ll launch their campaign in Jamshedpur, featuring a month-long poster drive in shops throughout the region. This initiative will include meetings and engagements with different groups like shopkeepers and students, pushing the idea of buying local.

As part of this campaign, traders are encouraged to display signs reading “Only Indian Goods Available.” Suresh Sonthalia, CAIT’s National Joint General Secretary, believes this is a pivotal move towards economic self-reliance and enhancing national pride.

Experts suggest this campaign comes at an important moment. According to a recent survey by Statista, 62% of consumers in India expressed a preference for locally made products due to quality concerns and economic nationalism. As a nation grows, so does the desire for goods that reflect its culture and values.

In today’s world, where global brands dominate, this push to buy local not only fosters community but also instills pride in Indian craftsmanship. By aligning with this movement, traders and consumers alike can contribute to a more self-sufficient economy, creating a win-win for both business and society.
