Pacers’ New Initiative to Fight Food Insecurity
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Pacers have launched an exciting initiative. For every 3-pointer made during home games, 540 eggs will be donated to help families in central Indiana.
This effort joins forces with HATCH, a nonprofit dedicated to improving nutrition. HATCH connects food producers, banks, and donors to deliver much-needed protein to those facing food insecurity. They play a crucial role in supporting the Pacers’ Drive & Dish program, ensuring eggs and other protein sources reach families in need.
Drive & Dish is led by the Pacers Foundation and Coach Rick Carlisle. Its goal is to provide dignified access to nutritious food for families across Indiana.
Kroger, a long-term partner of the Pacers, has also stepped up. They have been actively involved in supporting Drive & Dish and are now expanding their contributions during the Pacers’ season.
Daniel Leckie, CEO of HATCH, emphasized the importance of community effort, stating, “This initiative reflects what’s possible when communities work together.”
Recent Trends
Food insecurity remains a pressing issue, with studies showing that nearly 10% of U.S. households struggle to provide enough food for their families. This initiative could help bridge that gap, even if just a little.
In social media discussions, many locals express pride in their team’s efforts, celebrating how sports can contribute positively to the community.
