The Himachal Pradesh Police, along with the Department of Environment, Science, Technology, and Climate Change, is set to host the “Anti-Chitta and Clean Environment Awareness Mini Marathon 2026” in Shimla. This event will take place on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day.
Participants can choose between a 10-kilometre mini marathon or a 3-kilometre run, both starting from The Ridge in Shimla. Local officials, public representatives, students, and environmental groups are expected to join in.
Director General of Police Ashok Tewari emphasized that the marathon’s goal is to raise awareness about drug abuse, particularly “chitta.” He mentioned that involving the youth is crucial for advocating a clean environment and a drug-free society. “This event focuses on safeguarding the future of our youth by mobilizing community support,” he noted.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of inspiring younger generations to embrace fitness, discipline, and environmental responsibility.
