Join the Spirit of Giving: Christmas Carol Sing Collects 1,000 Pounds of Food for Community Cooperative!

The Christmas Carol Sing at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers on December 6 was a heartwarming event. It attracted residents and visitors alike, all eager to support the Community Cooperative in its mission to feed the hungry in Southwest Florida.

This year marked the 34th Annual Christmas Carol Sing, sponsored by the Galloway Family of Dealerships and Susan Bennett Marketing & Media, L.C. Attendees donated about 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food and made generous financial contributions. Such efforts are crucial, especially during tough economic times. Community Cooperative CEO, Stefanie Ink Edwards, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying, “The need has never been greater.”

More than 400 people enjoyed performances from talented musicians and soloists, including Violin Soloist Jeffrey Fabisiak and Saxophonist Mike Pcolar. The festive atmosphere was heightened by a visit from Santa Claus, delighting both children and adults.

First Presbyterian Church also hosts the Mrs. Edison’s Hymn Sing on February 3, part of the Edison Festival of Light, with proceeds benefiting Community Cooperative. This organization, founded in 1984 by First Presbyterian and other local churches, plays a vital role in fighting hunger and homelessness in Lee County.

In 2024, Community Cooperative assisted over 46,000 individuals, providing more than 2.1 million pounds of food. The organization also delivered over 117,000 freshly prepared meals to homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels program. Volunteer efforts were remarkable; more than 2,000 volunteers contributed 46,000 hours of service.

Community events like the Christmas Carol Sing not only bring joy but also raise much-needed support for those in need. As local communities rally together, they’re proving that even small acts can create a huge impact.
