Join the Tyler Wood Ice Fishing Tournament: A Thrilling Event to Support Veteran Mental Health Awareness!

LODI, Wis. – More than 70 people came together at Lucky’s on the Lake for the first-ever Tyler Wood Fishing Tournament in Lodi. This special event was organized by the Wood’s Warriors and Lucky’s on the Lake to honor Tyler Wood, a veteran who tragically took his own life five years ago.

“We want to raise awareness about military suicide,” said Karen Walz, one of the event organizers. “Many people are unaware of this issue, so we hope that spreading the word can lead to prevention.”

The tournament featured a meat and cheese raffle, along with other prizes, including a 50/50 raffle. All funds raised will support organizations like 22 Too Many and Ruck 22, which provide mental health resources for veterans and active service members.

Originally, Walz expected about 40 participants, but the turnout exceeded her expectations with over 70 attendees. Tyler’s father, Paul Wood, shared his pride in the event. “It was better than I could have imagined. Tyler would be proud; this is all for him,” he said. He appreciated the support from friends, family, and even those he didn’t know, making the day all the more special.

This fishing tournament not only aimed to celebrate Tyler’s memory but also to shine a light on an important cause. The organizers plan to continue this event in the future, hoping to draw even more support and raise awareness about an issue that affects many.
