Join Us at SOA’s Climate Change Conclave: Tackling Tomorrow’s Challenges Together!

Bhubaneswar: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) is gearing up for a crucial event—the ‘International Conclave on Climate Change and Global Warming’ on June 10 and 11. This two-day conference will bring together climate experts, researchers, and diplomats from around the world to tackle the pressing issues of climate change.

The goal is to create a global platform for scientists, policymakers, business leaders, and climate advocates. Together, they will explore strategies for addressing climate impacts and promoting sustainable development. Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, shared that sessions will cover a variety of topics, including rising temperatures, water management, and extreme weather patterns.

Notably, ambassadors from seven European and South American nations, along with representatives from the Seychelles, will participate. They will discuss their countries’ unique experiences with climate issues. Among them is Mr. Alberto Guani, the Ambassador of Uruguay, and Ms. Lalatiana Accouche, High Commissioner of Seychelles, who will offer valuable insights into how different regions are coping with climate challenges.

The conclave aims to be a landmark event, as stressed by Prof. Nanda. It focuses on gathering knowledge to pave the way for a sustainable future. Alongside the global discussions, sessions will include themes like India’s climate scenario, ocean-atmosphere interactions, and the effects of climate change on food security and urban infrastructure.

Various leading experts are set to share their knowledge, including Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra from the Indian Meteorological Department and several prominent professors from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). They will provide perspectives on the current state of climate science and its implications for India and beyond.

As the world grapples with climate change, this conclave provides a vital opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate. Historical data shows that global temperatures have risen significantly since the 19th century, emphasizing the urgency of such discussions. For instance, a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) indicates that 2020 was one of the hottest years on record, underscoring the need for immediate action.

Engagement on social media around climate issues is also growing. Recent trends show that more young people are demanding action, often using hashtags like #ClimateActionNow. This reflects a societal shift toward prioritizing sustainability and holding leaders accountable.

The conclave will end with a session dedicated to crafting actionable recommendations. This final discussion will be chaired by Prof. Nanda and Prof. Manas Kumar Mallick, signaling a step toward real change in the fight against climate change.
