Topeka, Kan. – The Shawnee County Health Department is hosting a free community event to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week and Kansas Breastfeeding Month. This special gathering will take place on Monday, August 4, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at their Training Room A, located at 2600 SW East Circle Drive in Topeka.
The event promises a variety of activities to engage attendees, including:
- A welcome reception with refreshments
- Information about local breastfeeding resources
- An open discussion on the importance of community support for breastfeeding
- A complimentary professional photo session for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, provided by local photographer Jess Stitt
- A raffle drawing along with closing activities
This event is designed for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, their families, and community members who wish to learn more about available resources and support networks.
Missy Middendorf, the Division Manager of Family Health, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are eager to bring families and community partners together to celebrate the breastfeeding journey. It highlights the vital role community support plays in maternal and infant health.”
