St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Edmonds is stepping up to help those facing food insecurity. They will hold a popup food distribution on Wednesday, May 14, from 3-4 p.m. This event offers free food to anyone in need.
What’s on the menu? Expect fresh produce, proteins, and packaged goods provided by the Edmonds Food Bank. Everything is available at no cost, allowing visitors to pick what they need.
The food truck will be situated on the north side of the church at 21405 82 Pl. W, Edmonds. It’s conveniently located near the Five Corners roundabout. Look for signs on 212th Street Southwest and 84th Avenue West pointing you to the event.
In addition to the popup event, St. Alban’s has also created a community “Blessings Food Pantry.” This pantry is open daily and is positioned near the church’s front doors. It features a variety of food items that those in need can take. Community members are also invited to donate food to keep it stocked.
Food insecurity is a pressing issue, affecting millions across the country. In a recent survey by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 10.5% of U.S. households experienced food insecurity at some point in 2021. Initiatives like St. Alban’s food pantry contribute significantly to combating this problem at a local level, offering not just food but also a sense of community support.
As we reflect on such efforts, it’s important to recognize the role of community in addressing hunger. Many local churches and organizations are stepping up, similar to St. Alban’s, showing that collective action can make a real difference.
