Join Us for a Safe Ride: Dodge County Public Health’s Family-Friendly Car Seat Event in Beaver Dam!

The Dodge County Public Health Department is excited to announce a free car seat event in Beaver Dam. Join us on April 22nd from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Beaver Dam Fire Station on 205 South Lincoln Avenue.

To participate, you need to make an appointment. There will be a limited number of car seats available for families who qualify. If you already have a car seat and want it checked for safety, please bring your child, the seat with its instructions, and your vehicle’s owner manual.

Using car seats correctly can make a big difference in keeping children safe while traveling. According to experts, around 75% of child safety seats are not used properly. This highlights the importance of education and checking seats to ensure they provide the best protection. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that, over the past 30 years, child restraints have saved more than 11,000 lives—a powerful statistic that emphasizes the need for proper usage.

It’s not just about having a car seat; it’s crucial to install and use it correctly. Engaging with certified child passenger safety technicians during events like this can help parents feel more confident in their choices. Parents are encouraged to learn the best practices for car seat safety, including how to adjust straps and how to ensure the seat fits well in their vehicle.

For more details or to schedule an appointment, you can call 920-386-3676 or email publichealth@co.dodge.wi.us. Protecting our children while they travel is a community effort, and events like this play a vital role in raising awareness and improving safety.
