EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team is back home after a thrilling weekend. They just swept Drake on the road, marking their first Missouri Valley Conference sweep since 2019. They’ll take on Bellarmine in a single game on Wednesday at 5 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+.

The team is celebrating some impressive achievements:

  • They won all three games against Drake, showcasing their strength as they first secured a road sweep in four years.
  • With an 8-6 record in the league, this is the best MVC start for the Purple Aces since 2017.

On the individual front, Emma McDonald is making waves. She earned the MVC Newcomer of the Week award for the second time this season. During the series against Drake, she hit .429, contributing two runs and an RBI. Her earlier award was for a .444 batting average in a series against Central Arkansas.

Kate Ridgway also shined during the Drake series. She notched two wins and a save, impressively striking out 10 in a 6-inning shutout. This was her third consecutive MVC complete game shutout. In one of the games, she set her new strikeout record with 11, bringing her season total to 101, ranking second in the MVC.

As the season progresses, the Purple Aces are showing promise. Their recent performance has sparked enthusiasm among fans. Social media is abuzz with support for the team, highlighting their resilience and skills on the field.
