This year marks the 24th occasion of this spring tournament since its inception in 2003. The Racers had a successful run last year, claiming victory in their home event for the 12th time.

The Jan Weaver Invitational commemorates Jan Weaver, a vital supporter of Murray State University and Racer Athletics, who passed away in 2009. Weaver dedicated over 40 years to education as a teacher and administrator. She was also a dean in the College of Education at Murray State from 1985 to 1997. Along with her husband, Dick, Jan played a significant role in creating opportunities for student-athletes to thrive academically and athletically. Their contributions led to the establishment of the Weaver Academic Enhancement Center, which opened in 1997 and continues to support Racer students today. In 2018, both were inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame.
