Tufts Women’s Soccer Gears Up for NESCAC Tournament
This weekend, the Tufts University women’s soccer team will host the 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament semifinals and finals at Bello Field in Medford, MA. Currently ranked No. 3 in both the USC Top 25 Coaches Poll and NPI rankings, Tufts, the top seed, will face No. 5 seed Colby College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The other semifinal will feature No. 2 seed Williams College against No. 3 seed Middlebury College at 6:30 p.m.

Tufts’ Strengths
The Jumbos come in with a strong 14-1-2 record, dominating their opponents with a balanced offense and a tough defense. They’ve scored 37 goals while allowing only 7 in 16 matches, resulting in an impressive defensive average of 0.44 goals against per game.
Leading the offensive charge is Elsi Aires with 10 goals and four assists. Seven different players have contributed to the scoring this season, showcasing the team’s depth. Their high average of over 22 shots per game further highlights their attacking prowess.
Colby, Middlebury, and Williams
Colby, finishing the season at 10-3-3, boasts a robust attack, averaging over two goals per game, led by Abigail Jarvi’s ten goals. The Mules are known for their second-half performance, where they often surge ahead due to their fitness and bench depth.
Middlebury, another contender, is eager to capture its sixth NESCAC title. The Panthers have a strong forward line, including Olivia Colby, who has five assists this season. Their defense has been rock solid, having allowed just six goals overall.
Williams seeks to build on its legacy of success, with eight NESCAC titles to its name. The Ephs, looking to advance after a decisive 3-0 victory over Bowdoin, feature players like Maya Lloyd, who has consistently scored throughout the season.
