Join Us for Cameron University’s Exciting Commencement Ceremonies This Friday!

Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, is gearing up to celebrate its newest graduates on Friday, May 8. The festivities kick off at 3 p.m. in the Aggie Gymnasium with a master’s hooding ceremony. It’s a special moment for those earning their master’s degrees, and De’Andre Swanson, a master’s degree candidate in educational leadership, will deliver the keynote address.

Later, at 5 p.m., the McCasland Ballroom will host the commissioning of Army officer candidates from the Cameron ROTC program. Finally, at 7:30 p.m., graduates will take the stage at Cameron Stadium. This includes students who finished their degree requirements in December 2025 or will do so by the end of December 2026.

The ceremony will feature several speakers, including University President Shane Hunt, Student Body President Connor Holt, and CU Alumni Association President Wayne Andrews. Additionally, Oklahoma state Rep. Trey Caldwell will receive the Cameron University Distinguished Service Award during the event.

For guests attending the stadium ceremony, the gates will open at 6 p.m., and it’s best to be seated by 7:20 p.m. University officials suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early to ensure a smooth entry. There will be reserved ADA seating available, limited to one guest and one escort.

Safety is a priority, so all bags will undergo checks. Certain items, like drugs, alcohol, and oversized bags, are not allowed. However, bottled water will be provided for graduates and their guests.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the commencement will be rescheduled for Saturday, May 9, inside the Aggie Gymnasium, with ceremonies at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.
