Residents of Baton Rouge, mark your calendars for “Clean Out Your Freezer Day” on Sunday, August 24. This event invites everyone to donate frozen food to help those in need. It’s hosted by Hunters for the Hungry, a group dedicated to fighting hunger in our community.
Want to help? Just empty your freezer and bring your frozen items to one of the donation spots between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Here’s where you can drop off your donations:
- Bowie Outfitters, 8630 Perkins Rd
- CCA Louisiana, 12241 Industriplex
- Baton Rouge Fire Department at 835 Sharp Rd
- Baton Rouge Fire Department at 5758 Claycut
- Central Fire Department, 11646 Sullivan Rd
- St. George Fire Department locations
- Zachary Fire Department, 4525 Main Street
- Cabela’s, 2200 W Cabela’s Pkwy, Gonzalez
- Bass Pro Shops, 175 Bass Pro Blvd, Denham Springs
Please ensure that all donated food is properly labeled, dated, and frozen. Unrecognized items won’t be accepted to ensure safety and quality.
This initiative not only clears your freezer but also supports the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. According to recent statistics, food insecurity affects 1 in 6 people in Louisiana. Events like this can make a difference in many lives.
It’s a great way to engage with your community, and the locations will be staffed by local volunteers and businesses. Let’s come together to help those in need!
