Join Us for Food Aid 2025: A Flavorful Two-Night Celebration of Community and Compassion!

WBEZ is excited to join forces with Robert’s Westside for the fourth annual Food Aid Festival. This two-day music event aims to tackle food insecurity in the Westside communities of Chicago and nearby suburbs.

Food Aid believes everyone has the right to access food. Through music and community efforts, the festival raises funds for local organizations working to alleviate hunger. Proceeds will go to groups like A House In Austin, Austin Eats Initiative, and the Oak Park Community Fridges, among others.

Mark your calendar! This year’s festival will be at Robert’s Westside in Forest Park, IL. The event kicks off on Saturday, August 23rd, with a block party hosted by O’Sullivan’s Pub.

Day 1 features the band Cracker. With a career spanning nearly 25 years, they blend alt-rock and Americana. Their hits, such as "Low" and "Euro-Trash Girl," still resonate with fans today. Joining them is Chicago’s own The Shams Band, offering a unique mix of rock and blues with a banjo twist.

On Day 2, Cracker returns, supported by Rachel Swain, an Americana artist from Austin. She has created music that draws on country and bluegrass influences over her two-decade career.

Food insecurity is a pressing issue. According to a recent USDA report, 10.5% of households in the U.S. experienced food insecurity in 2021. This festival emphasizes the importance of community and shows how music can inspire change.

Let’s come together to fight hunger with the power of music. For more information, visit Food Aid Festival.

Tickets are available for both days. General admission is $50 plus service fees, while a reserved table is $60 per seat. Keep in mind that seating for general admission is limited, so it’s best to opt for reserved seating if you need a guaranteed spot.

Every ticket sold supports a noble cause, helping to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
