In an exciting move for India’s cooperative sector, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is gearing up for its 55th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 25, 2025. This important event will take place at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, and is expected to draw around 1,500 delegates from various cooperative societies all over the country.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will be the Chief Guest, noted for his significant contributions to the cooperative movement. IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani refers to him as the “Polar Star,” praising his efforts in strengthening cooperatives and their role in rural development.

The AGM will kick off at 11 am and will include over 1,000 representatives from member societies. This gathering will feature not just farmers, but also dignitaries, policymakers, and experts from the sector.

To ensure a smooth event, IFFCO has sent out notices and documents to its members and is busy with preparations involving logistics, delegate management, and exhibitions. One highlight will be an extensive exhibition that showcases the achievements of IFFCO’s subsidiaries, such as IFFCO Tokio General Insurance and IFFCO Kisan.

This year, the exhibition will also spotlight organizations like Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited and National Cooperative Exports Limited, showcasing the integration of cooperatives into various sectors like insurance, agri-services, and exports.

For those who can’t attend in person, the AGM will be broadcast live to IFFCO’s approximately 35,600 member societies, allowing for broader engagement in important discussions. The meeting is set to cover key topics like financial performance, outreach initiatives, and future plans for expansion.

A significant feature of this AGM will be the awarding of the Sahakarita Ratna and Sahakarita Bandhu awards, which honor exceptional contributions to the cooperative movement and rural development.

Founded in 1967, IFFCO has grown into one of the largest fertilizer cooperatives globally, playing an essential role in India’s agricultural and cooperative landscape. This AGM aims to reinforce its commitment to farmer welfare and rural prosperity.

The importance of such gatherings can’t be understated. According to a recent survey conducted by the National Cooperative Union of India, nearly 70% of cooperative members feel that these meetings enhance transparency and boost community involvement.

As IFFCO prepares for its upcoming AGM, it stands as a testament to the strength and unity of cooperatives in India, proving that collaboration can lead to fruitful outcomes for farmers and rural communities alike.
