MILWAUKEE — Marquette University Graduate School is hosting its annual Three Minute Thesis competition on Friday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. This event will take place in the Weasler Auditorium at 1506 W. Wisconsin Ave. It serves as a highlight to conclude Graduate Student Week.
In this exciting competition, graduate students will present their research in just three minutes. They can use only one slide without any animations. Participants come from diverse fields, such as biomedical engineering, chemistry, neuroscience, and communication. The top presenter will win $500 and earn a chance to compete at a regional level in Indianapolis on April 4.
A panel of judges will evaluate the presentations. This esteemed group includes Carole DeRoche, former president of Dohmen Medical Affairs; Derek Mosley from Marquette Law School’s Lubar Center; Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, a retired superintendent; and Marquette’s Acting Provost, Sarah B. Feldner.
The Three Minute Thesis competition began at the University of Queensland in Australia. It’s open to master’s and doctoral students engaged in original research. You don’t always need to have a formal thesis or dissertation, but your presentation must focus on your research project.
