IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain-Kingsford General Federation of Women’s Clubs is gearing up for a food drive from Monday through Saturday, October 11. This is a great way for the community to come together and support local food pantries.
This year, banks in the area will serve as drop-off points for donations. From Monday to Friday, you can bring non-perishable food items to First Bank, IncredibleBank, and First National Bank & Trust during their regular hours. They’re making it easier for people to contribute.
On Saturday, October 11, there will be a “Drive Through Collection Event” from 8 a.m. to noon in the downtown public parking lot, located between Hughitt and A Streets, behind Antonio’s. Volunteers will be ready to accept your donations, with their trunks open for easy drop-off.
When donating, please check that all food items are not expired. All contributions will go to the St. Vincent de Paul and Salvation Army food pantries, helping those in need in our community.
Food insecurity affects many families. According to recent statistics from the USDA, about 10.5% of U.S. households faced food insecurity in 2021. Community efforts like this food drive can have a significant impact, providing essential support to those struggling. It’s a reminder that even small contributions can make a big difference.
Let’s make this food drive a success! Every donation helps feed a family and strengthens our community.
