Join Us for Real Food CT’s 5th Annual Fundraiser on September 13 at Sticks & Stones Farm: A Celebration of Local Cuisine and Community!

Real Food CT is gearing up for its fifth annual community fundraiser, An Evening at the Farm, on Saturday, September 13, at Sticks & Stones Farm. This event combines fresh flavors and live music, all while focusing on a vital mission: getting more locally grown food to families in southwestern Connecticut.

Last year, Real Food CT delivered around 50,000 pounds of fresh produce to hunger-relief partners. This year, they’re projected to reach about 125,000 pounds, which would provide over 104,000 meals to those in need. Sean Fitzpatrick, the Executive Director of RFCT, emphasized the importance of their work: “We gather surplus produce from 25 local farms and distribute it to food pantries throughout the region. Every dollar donated goes straight to supporting local food access.”

Guests at the event can look forward to delicious bites made from local ingredients, prepared by popular local eateries. They’ll also enjoy a silent auction, a warm bonfire, and live music from Iris Lies, a band known for their beautiful vocal harmonies.

Tickets for the event are priced at $150 each, or you can reserve a table for ten for $1,400. For more details, visit Real Food CT.

Real Food CT isn’t just about food; it’s about building a stronger community. By rescuing surplus produce, they help fight hunger while also reducing waste. This initiative not only improves the nutritional quality of meals for those in need but also supports local farmers and boosts the regional economy.

Recent stats show that food insecurity has risen in the U.S. due to various factors like inflation and the impact of the pandemic. Organizations like RFCT play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by ensuring fresh food reaches those who need it the most. Their efforts have even garnered attention on social media, where community members share stories of how access to fresh produce has impacted their lives.

Real Food CT is making strides in nourishing the community while fostering connections between local farmers and residents. Their commitment to this mission shines through the hard work and dedication of their volunteers and partners.
