Join Us for the 2nd International Congress on AI in Medical Science This May: Explore Innovations Shaping Healthcare!

TEHRAN – The 2nd International Congress on Artificial Intelligence in Medical Science (AIMS) will take place in Tehran from May 14 to 16. This event is all about bringing together researchers and experts to share ideas and explore the use of AI in healthcare.

The congress aims to create connections among those interested in AI, offering a space for them to share their knowledge on the latest advancements and challenges in the field. Participants will discuss opportunities for collaboration, focusing on AI’s role in diagnostics, treatment, drug development, and enhancing healthcare systems.

Key topics will include personalized medicine, biomedical data processing, AI’s application in pharmacy and digital health, and advancements in medical technology. The event will also touch on health policy and management as they relate to AI.

Before the main congress, the Smart University of Medical Sciences (SMUMS) will host a preliminary event on February 16 called ‘AI Innovation in Telehealth.’ This session will feature speakers from both local and international backgrounds. It will highlight the latest AI tools and discuss how they can improve telehealth services and patient experiences.

In January, a significant partnership was formed when the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Tehran University of Medical Sciences signed a memorandum to explore AI’s potential in medical treatments. This agreement focuses on supporting health innovations, such as genomics, personalized medicine, and other cutting-edge areas.

Research shows that AI can lead to substantial healthcare savings, up to 40% in advanced countries. For certain conditions, like breast or lung cancer, these savings can reach as high as 80%. Such statistics highlight the importance of integrating AI into healthcare practices to reduce costs.

Hassan Bakhtiari, the president of SMUMS, shared that a smart healthcare document is currently awaiting final approval. This document aims to support the digital shift in Iran’s healthcare system.

The SMUMS research center is poised to drive applied research and development in medical treatments, ultimately helping to lower costs. Bakhtiari emphasized that strengthening Iran’s position in the AI sector is essential in light of regional advancements.

AI is crucial for diagnosing and treating diseases while improving overall healthcare quality. By leveraging AI, there is potential to enhance medical services in rural and underserved areas, promoting greater health equity through telemedicine.
